Beaded Yarn
I finished up my beaded yarn two nights ago, but did not get a chance to post yesterday.
This is 70% alpaca (from Ruben out of Snowshoe Farm Alpacas - see link in my sidebar) and 30% angora (from my bunny Bilbo Baggins). I spun a fairly fine 2-ply somwhere between DK and sport, and randomly added pale hues of silver-lined seed beads to one of the plys. I like the hand of this yarn - it's silky but fuzzy and soft, all at the same time. I think the drape would be great in a scarf.
And here's a closeup (click on the thumbnails to get them to open in a larger window) that better shows the yarn texture and the beads.
I have some other combinations I'm thinking about spinning up. A black alpaca with beads in shades from a peacock's tail. Pale gray alpaca and angora mixed with beads in grays and blues. Suggestions?
Last night, I fixed the cable issue on DH's sweater, so I'm back on track with that. I think I have 4 or 5 more rows to knit before I can put the stitches for the front neck on holders, so that's the plan for tonight.
Cool and rainy here today. I actually had the heat turn on last night for the first time in several weeks. Sounds like good fiber project weather to me!
This is beautiful! The idea of the black with peacock beads, oh...it sounds to die for. Make a bunch and let's talk! Now that I've read this post I can return to work for a while, a happy woman.
