Holiday Headstart Update
I know I've been AWOL for a bit. My MIL was here for a visit and we were entertaining and driving around, going out to eat and generally enjoying her company for 3 days. More on that with pictures in a later post, but for now, a Holiday Headstart update.
Below is my original list and updates.
Two lace scarves. One lace scarf finished, one to go. The other one is also going to a mohair/silk combination (Kid Silk Haze for this one), and having done the first one, I know I will want to get this one done before the summer stickies set in because that mohair is clingy enough to work with, without sweaty palms. Maybe I'll rotate it into the knit queue next.- Two sets of towels - but I want to use the same warp, so this is sort of a 2-in-1 project.
TwoThree pairs of fingerless gloves(possibly 3, but I'm waiting on a recipient to let me know for sure).I've started on 1 pair and have 1 of the pair done. A quick easy knit. Pics to follow.- Three pairs of socks (one of which I have earmarked from the current sock club - because the colors sound perfect for the recepient and aren't something I would likely wear). I'm working on pair #1. And I think I need to add a fourth pair now that I've been thinking on it.
One sweater.I'm off the hook on this one. My mum has decided no wool sweaters for her....ever.... so until I can plan something else, no sweater this year!Possiblya table runner (waiting for my mum to let me know if this is something she'd like for the house). On the loom as we speak.- And finally, although not an Xmas present, I want to weave an alpaca blanket for my cousin who is getting married in June. His grandmother (not our shared grandmum) used to weave, and I know he will appreciate a handwoven gift. I finally got the yarn for this (it was on back-order) last week. It will go on the loom next.
Overall, pretty dern good progress, I think, and I've finished a few Dulaan things to boot. Makes me wonder why the heck I haven't been this productive with everything.
I also decided that I'll post myself an updated list once a month to be sure I'm staying on track... AND.... I also decided if I got all my Xmas gifts finished early, I'd treat myself to some fair isle I've been eyeing for a while. That'll be a good motivation in and of itself.
I'll be back tomorrow with pics of the weekend.
All for now.....
Did you get out this weekend to ride? Can you believe all the snow in the mountains!? You are making excellent progress towards Holiday knitting. Way to go!

I'll say that is pretty good progress. I am being a slacker so far.
On a totally unrelated note... I received a catalog the other day from the Yarn Barn in Kansas, whom I have never ordered from, that was full of spinning and weaving supplies. Tons of weaving supplies and books! Isn't that strange that I would get a catalog about something that has peaked my interest lately? Do you think this is a sign? ;)
