Originally, D and I had decided that, after all the angst and stress over Sammy, that we needed a little long weekend and we had planned to go to Denver, Colorado, last weekend, stay in a nice hotel, see an ice hockey game, go out to dinner, hang out. The weather forecast, however, was NOT cooperative, so at the last minute, we cancelled reservations, and headed out to Flagstaff, Arizona, which is just south of the Grand Canyon.
While we didn't have a lot of time, we hadn't either been to the area before, so we decided we'd just do a ton of driving and take the tour north of Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon.
I am sure everyone has seen pictures of it. All the grand scope, scenic landscape and colors that are almost unreal. It is better in real life. Seriously.
Cold and blustery as it was, we stopped at every overlook, each one of them different, heightened by the changing clouds racing across the skyline, and since it was the off-season, we were allowed to drive our car out to the western-most end of the park, to Hermit's Rest, which is normally closed to passenger cars.
I'm just going to leave you with a photo tour today - enjoy!
All for now......

Wow! That must have been breathtaking! I couldn't imagine coming upon that scene two hundred years ago!

Great photos. Would have been a nice place to take action shots of knitted wear!

I adore the grand canyon and often wish I could visit more frequently. The North Rim is different than the South, both very worthwhile!

Wow, just looking at those pictures makes me feel a little less stressed. What unbelievable scenery! As soon as this year is over I'm going to have to devote some time for just me and nature. I forget how relaxing it can be.
