It's been ages since we had a Spinning Friday update. Not a huge update, but I do have a few things to show y'all.
First off, I finished up the first single of the Stone Castles BFL roving from Funky Carolina. Truly a pleasure to spin! This is the first 3 ounces, and I have another 3 ounces to be spun up into singles. I had taken my Saxony apart for the move, as I'm always concerned about the mother-of-all and the bobbin flyer in transit, and with everything apart, I needed to re-oil and wipe everything down. My little needle-nosed oil bottle was still at the old house until yesterday tho, but I've got that wheel put back to rights, so I can get back to this fiber.
Next up, I started the pretty, pink, superfine merino roving from my Oceanwind Knits Fiber Club from November. You might remember the original roving looked like:
I decided to spin each of the 2 colors Lori sent individually into light fingering-weight yarns and use them for lace neckwarmers. This is the first of the two colors - I also have a lovely green that's merino/cashmere as well. This is about half of the first ounce spun up. Again... hampered a little, as I needed my oil bottle!
And finally, some stash enhancement. Christina (who we now are almost spitting-distance neighbors to) and I decided to continue our casual spin-along next year (since Lori is taking a break from the Oceanwind Knits club) with Christina Marie Potter's roving club. I opted for the "surprise me" colorways, as I think that's a big part of the fun - seeing what surprise you get in the mail each time, and she sent a really nice 4-ounce braid of BFL in the "Raking Leaves" colorway. Subtle and earthy. I like it a lot.
All for now......
You live on the edge, between "surprise me" fiber clubs, and leaving oil out of the first wave move.

So much nice spinning. I really must head back to the wheel.

I always enjoy seeing what you are spinning! I've promised myself some more fiber in the near future, and I think most of my list of fiber suppliers to try has come from your blog.

Very nice. Your spinning posts always make me want to drag out my wheel and start spinning. Sadly, I never do. Maybe after I get my fiber room renovated and organized I'll have a place that's conducive to spinning (and everything else). Happy spinning!

Considering how busy you've been I'm surprised you have anything to show us for spinning Friday, let alone such a nice sampling of singles and fiber.

I haven't moved and yet you are still getting more spinning in than me! You are just too good!
I love love love your colorway. Wow. Christina sure does produce some super cool stuff.
I'm planning on finishing up the Oceanwinds club first and then starting on the next club. How about you?

Probably a daft question but do you not dye fibre? Love the colours of the fibre you are spinning and the ones yet to be spun. Is there such a thing as fibre envy? ;-)
